About Nebraska Counseling & Hypnosis Center

Nebraska Counseling & Hypnosis Center (NCandHC) founded by Dr. Kirby McGill in 1982 to help Omaha residents improve their life situation on many levels. As the premier hypnotist in the area, he was a mentor to Clovis Colley who worked closely with him in his clinic. Clovis now owns and operates the practice, filling the role and continuing the tradition of helping area residents to improve their lives and awaken their true potential.

Our goal at NCandHC is to help ordinary people have an extraordinary life once we have eliminated the roadblocks to their well-being and success. We do this with minimal visits and permanent, positive results*. We want to help you find relief from your issues quickly, so you can get on with your life.

Hypnosis has been used for centuries to help people with their everyday challenges and phobias. At NCandHC, our mission is to help people with those challenges. We help our clients lose weight, stop smoking, reduce pain, improve performance and focus, and eliminate anxiety, fears, and phobias*. The full list encompasses any emotion, idea, habit or fear that is keeping you from your best life.

About Hypnosis

Very simply put, hypnosis is your way out of useless vexing behaviors such as anxiety, nail biting, smoking, sugar addiction, and over eating. It’s also your path to excellence through powerful behaviors such as accelerated learning, sports enhancement, and liberating your inner intelligence in a way that makes your life one that works and adds to the value of your experience. This change is for you.

Hypnosis by my definition is a higher state. Many people think of stage shows when they hear ‘hypnosis’, but that’s not what I do. The hypnotic state is one between waking and sleeping and is part of your experience every time you nap or got to bed. During this stage, we achieve a heightened degree of neuroplasticity, which means it’s easier to introduce new ideas and thoughts as your brain is more receptive to them. Each person already fluctuates in and out of a state of hypnosis throughout the day, it’s just a manner of harnessing it and using it for a good purpose. Bad habits, phobias, and inflexible ideas are often imprinted in a naturally occurring hypnotic state, so it makes sense that we would use the same state to break these habits.

Positive actions, like training a golf swing into your body, is also done in a focused self-induced hypnotic state. Almost any behavior either good or bad can be built, enhanced, or eliminated in a state of hypnosis.

The Mayo Clinic defines hypnosis in this manner:

Hypnosis, also referred to as hypnotherapy or hypnotic suggestion, is a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. Hypnosis is usually done with the help of a therapist using verbal repetition and mental images. When you’re under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions.

What Psychology Today has to say about hypnosis:

“The fact is, however, that hypnosis is a genuine psychological phenomenon that has valid uses in clinical practice.  Simply put, hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention or , often associated with relaxation, and heightened suggestibility.  While under hypnosis (i.e., in a hypnotic trance), it seems many people are much more open to helpful suggestions than they usually are.”

Our team is trusted by doctors, school counselors, and employers with the changes they want to create. Hypnosis is the king of all self improvement and the one tried and true methodology that has withstood the test of time in its ability to produce results for its user.
